Careers
Since 1968, Futures for Children has worked to improve the educational experience for American Indian students. Nearly 40 years of experience working hand-in-hand with students, families and communities has enabled us to build strong relationships in our service area. Futures for Children staff continue to develop deep and positive relationships among our students and their communities, our mentors, our donors and our collaborative partners.
Studies have shown that American Indian students who have strong connections to parents, communities, teachers and schools, who are well grounded and connected to tribal culture are more likely to stay in school. As well, community based programs that respect the role of American Indian parents as primary educators of their children, involve American Indian parents and tribal communities in the identification and selection of objectives, and encourage American Indian family participation are most likely to be successful in promoting the achievement of American Indian children.
FFC has conducted pilot surveys in tribal communities to identify key strategies and culturally appropriate skills needed by American Indian students and parents to increase student educational success. We also conduct post-secondary educational research to confirm specific American Indian student and parent access and persistence needs. This is the living vision of partnering with American Indian tribes to instill the values of education and leadership while preserving cultural identities. Futures for Children currently works in 148 program sites throughout the states of Arizona and New Mexico.
To successfully perform our mission Futures for Children must attract, motivate, and retain the best people in the right positions. We hire mission driven, talented and experienced individuals who want to make a difference in the lives of American Indian children.
